ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2018 // Wood & Fire Tools
Wood & Fire Tools is a set created by the Co Laboratory, as a result of a study of man's historical relationship with fire, hearth, and tools used for fire. Our history with fire is an important one, deeply rooted in our being. Fire itself is an instrument that provides a means of warmth and food; we are attracted instinctively by his presence.
The design was inspired by the study of past instruments and the way these tools have evolved over time. Their form was born by examining this development and by reducing instruments to the most important components necessary for modern life - maintenance, cleaning, storage and fire. Each tool has been made to address each of these needs in a unique way. The set consists of a selection of materials enriched with the use and passing of time - oak and steel.
2018 // Teluric rug
The "Teluric" carpet made by Co Laboratory is a search for natural, local and authentic elements. With the Teluric Carpet Collection, Co Laboratory proposes a contemporary approach to this natural, affordable, easy-to-use, but ignored fabric in design. Jute is grown for fiber obtained from the plant stem and is used for making ropes or a sack cloth.
Although locally produced, jute is not used too often on the local market. The Teluric carpet is made of various parts, proportioned, woven, woven in asymmetrical composition and rich textures. Teluric reminds us of the infinite possibilities open to a deeper look at local resources and production.
