ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2017 // THREADS OF TRADITION @ VIENNA DESIGN WEEK // O FAMILY - KITCHEN BOARDS by ELIZA YOKINA
MATERIA, the producer of these objects, aims at bringing back and valuing the human makers in products that are personal, expressive, and bearing the artisan fingerprints. The traditional craftsmanship is mixed with experimental procedures to transform the matter into statement pieces with unexpected textures. The kitchen boards are inspired by the non-geome¬tric and imperfect forms that are found in nature and have a feminine character, which usually dominates the home kitchen. They are produced in wood workshop using handmade procedures resulting in a soft wood form.
