SOMEȘ DELIVERY

HISTORY 
Someș Delivery is an independent project that proposes and tests ideas for integrating the Someș River in the life of Cluj-Napoca. 

In 2014 a discussion amongst friends led to the idea of creating a Street Delivery-branded event in Cluj. The form it took in Cluj was, however, different from the more established one in Bucharest — instead of a street, the conclusion was it is the river Someș that needs to be restituted to its inhabitants. Someș Delivery is organized by the Cărturești Foundation, the Romanian Order of Architects and the miniMASS Association. 

SPECIFIC
Being a long-term project, Someș Delivery highlights each year a different segment of the river on which it intervenes through temporary design, entertaining events, cleaning activities and environmental awareness, community involvement and consultation.

Project dimensions:

Space - Identifies the issues and the potential of each segment, through temporary interventions it tests urban design ideas, generates public debates about the role of the river in the city and organizes workshops for young professionals.

Events - For a weekend it highlights the chosen river segment through events calibrated to the possibilities of the used space in order to enhance its attractiveness.

Community - Contest for interventions and events open to everybody to participate to, neighbor consultancy about their relation to the river and involvement in the processes, provokes the involvement of the nearby institutions

Environment - Cleans the chosen river segment, workshops and debates on environmental issues, informs about the flora and fauna of the river.
