HISTORY
Filofi and Trandafir Architecture is an architectural design practice led by two partners, arch. Catalin Trandafir and arch. Irina Filofi. The team consists of architects, engineers and economists, working closely with collaborators, various specialists or experts in various areas and is constantly communicating with the clients, whom they consider as a constituent part of the design process, thereby creating the framework for the best possible solution.
ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2018 // Werk Restaurant
The client's requirements: to design a restaurant with a terrace.
Site status: Two abandoned buildings, a former Renel headquarters and an annex with storage spaces and garages. The former Renel headquarters were made up of two buildings belonging to the old Ironworks in Hunedoara, unified by a parasitic construction.
The first step was to identify the original elements of the two industrial buildings and to value them as individual entities. From the beginning, the intention was to intervene minimally, delicately and preserve the specificity and architectural details of the buildings in question. Later interventions and parasitic additions have been eliminated.
The shape, original openings and materials were restored to the original form. On the outline of the former annex we proposed a building with complementary functions. The new building maintains the spirit of the old industrial buildings with apparent brick, but in a modern manner.
2017// Dincă Interior Design
The project is located in a collective residential building built before 1990. Originally, the apartment had a classic layout, relatively common, which, after preliminary analysis, proved to be maladjusted in relation to the clients’ needs.
2017// Timiș House
The lines of the terrain and the lines of the house are in contrast, empowering themselves. The house replaces the land it occupies by having a grass roof flooded with local species found in the area, helping it to blend in. The volume is simple and compact, with transparent surfaces arranged in a series of deep cuts, designed and sized based on studies of sunlight and view.
