HISTORY
Alexandra Mihailciuc, architect and storyteller. Vibrating between the village and the city, she refills an old patrimony vice, bringing to now crafts, techniques and forgotten histories. Coordinator "We beat the iron at the manor!". Prodid. Publications: "The Art of Blacksmithing", "Around the fire." She searches feverishly.
ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2018 // Around the Fire
The book was born step by step and, as many times, it started with the end: it is a shame not to write anything about the things we have learned; it is necessary to build a library for the craftsmanship of stove-building. The Pro Patrimonio Foundation, in the last years of its rehabilitation of Romanian architecture and the re-use of spaces for contemporary purposes, has found out that the subject of stove-building concerns more and more people and that the field itself is a major cultural asset which finds itself in a powerful process of oblivion and degeneration.
The subject, which is non-exhaustive, has interesting references to architecture, gastronomy, but also to poetic life. It becomes more and more attractive, as Romania slowly uncovers some incontestable valences of its rural environment and slowly revives a country lifestyle. Better or worse; with the difficulties and the need for improvisation, the unexpected and the adventure that the new generation is experiencing.
