Dome for Letea it’s the outcome of a collaborative work of a contemporary designer, craftsman and artisan from the Danube Delta.
The Danube Delta, Letea, have hidden beauties waiting to be discovered.
The surprise that is under the lid or the action to put the cover to one side, is a two-way metaphor to bring the Danube Delta to people's attention. The gesture, surprise and protection are the underlying elements of this concept.
It's an exercise to preserve and protect the Danube Delta and its people who still know the tradition of crafts using local and renewable materials.
The composition of the object from a rigorous modern leather handle and a lightweight weaved cattail lid, highlights from the very first contact with the object the balance between modern / traditional and contemporary / craftsmanship.
The shape, size, design and materials chosen have the role of leading to the protection characteristic feature of the dome, resulting in an accessible product with a daily utility.

The goal was to create a sustainable object that would change the perception of natural resources and craft. Focused on experience, process, sustainability and re-interpretation of craft traditions, this object can be integrated into any room and leave an impression of the region. The shape is similar to the contour of a bell due to traditional symbolism. The experiment is focused on the use of site-specific raw materials, respectively, the remembrance of the old, transposed into the new. The shell was made of adobe material. The whole process is based on this craft that uses the most important raw material - the earth land, through which many houses, rooms and cities have been built, and which still reveals countless possibilities for adaptation.
