HISTORY
pluto.by.night is a design studio based in Bucharest and discovered by Sabin Dumitriu & Claudia Voinea back in 2018. As ambassadors they are driven in their work by the design process and the human experience rather than the academics of the outcome. They investigate on the boundary between art, design and architecture and develop design toolkits that allow asking the right questions and finding new answers. The result is almost always on edges of the same debate.
SPECIFIC
Once you have spotted Pluto, you can truthfully say that you have seen the farthest object visible with the human eye.
There’s a constant deliberation about the planet status of our home, but there’s no denying of its beauty. As Pluto inspires curiosity, passion and the reach for the status of the one that ventured the furthest from home, such is the drive in the studio.
ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2019 // Sport Guru
The design approach was guided by the promise of creating a skin like a dynamic sculpture inside of a black dark space. Using a brand related palette of colors and dynamic angles, the entire space becomes a sport experience, a unique hybrid between a retail store and a social hub.
2019 // Rosa Mundi
Bold objects and clear shapes turn this minimalist perfumery into a lush shopping experience. The solid monochromatic cubes are accented by a strong geometry that inspires customers to explore the space and find the perfumes subtly empowered by the light layers.
2018 // Design by Process
We ask ourselves questions and we seek paths that give us answers. How do you transform a basic construction material into a design element? Can you transform a painting into a chair? You broke the mirror, what can you do with it?
The questions are the same, the process makes every answer unique.
