ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2019 // Good Practice Booklets: Calea Călărașilor, Mântuleasa, Negustori, Calea Moșilor and Caimatei conservation areas
The Good Practice Booklets are part of the „care tools” for the protected areas of Bucharest, initiated by ARCEN through the „Bucharest Catalog” project.
The Booklets’ role is to facilitate the maintenance and improvement of the vulnerable buildings in these areas, while increasing the value of properties in harmony with the spirit of the place and in dialogue with the adequate professionals.
The booklets for the 98 protected built areas of Bucharest follow a common structure, adapted to the specificity of each area (each marked by a different color). The chapters include explanations and warnings about the problems that old buildings might have, along with basic constructive recommendations for sustainable repair or changes. All these are illustrated through relevant images, diagrams and statistics, as well as a map of the protected areas, indicating landmarks and positive examples to follow.
The first booklets were already distributed to residents living in 5 protected areas.
An ARCEN project.
