HISTORY
Launched in 2016, HALFDROP is a design studio focused on home décor fabrics, with a product gallery ranging from cushions to curtains and upholstery. The HALFDROP story speaks of a longtime friendship of architects Alexandra Lăzărescu and Alexandra Petrache, and their passion for patterns, beauty in utility, contrasts, and local traditions and folklore.
SPECIFIC
HALFDROP began as an intention rather than a brand, with the goal to promote a feeling by a given product rather than a specific style or trend.
ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2018 // (Days of) HARVEST
HARVEST is inspired by decorations of everyday items, such as clothing, rugs, carved utensils, the series’ development reflecting the passing of time during a harvest week, with colors and moods derived from the specificity of each day. A graphic is dedicated to each day of the week, influenced by the day’s patronizing folkloric figure, be it male, female, dual, benevolent or revengeful.
These myths and personifications transcended the pagan times into early Christianity, becoming part of Romanian legends and folklore, influencing each of the days in a farmer or peasant’s life, dictating customs, rituals and routine.
