HISTORY
Diana Filimon is the president of the Forum Apulum Association from Alba Iulia. After almost two years since the group was created, the people behind the NGO have organised a different way of delivering uncomfortable history or civics lessons, combining information with illustrations, a mixture between culture and civic attitude. Among the group projects are ”The Resistance”, ”The Illustrated Guide of the Romanian Communism” and the ”Illustrated Guide for The Students”.
ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES
2019 // The Resistance
In a time when there is a need for leaders and models, the project ”The Resistance” has chosen to present a piece of history through a series of illustrations created by the Romanian artists who accompanied the stories of some people who resisted during the period of the Communist regime. The Resistance does not exist only in an extreme, aggressive form. Various people expressed their attitude against the system in different ways.
The project does not bring to light only extraordinary gestures, or messiahs, but searches for the change which sometimes comes from small actions, through surprising people, whose spine does not bend according to the time. 12 models were presented, 12 people who resisted in their own way and who can inspire even today. The project was created voluntarily by the artists who created a portrait for each story and had as main target young people, not enouch exposed to the recent history, an uncomfortable one, of the communism in Romania.
