HISTORY
FORM FUNCTION is a Romania based design platform, started in 2013 by three young architect friends with common background and interests. Carolina Comșa always had an interest for small scale projects (object and graphic design). Magda Vieriu cares for neat details and she is currently researching craft history. Octavian Hrebenciuc envisions efficient and sustainable designs. Each of them has their own projects but everything is decided together. This refines their approach and, at the same time, keeps a positive independence.
SPECIFIC
FORM FUNCTION works on a broad range of projects with a holistic approach, producing limited editions with great care for details.
Exhibiting at Wood&Wool // HATCH
This is a project about wool, about local traditional materials and crafts. The wool roving is applied manually to a base fabric, following the given patterns. It gradually turns into felt through a process called needle felting. This implies more than 1000 needle stitches. Natural local ingredients are used: outside, black cotton with handmade felted wool insertions, inside, cotton, filled with natural wool roving and lavender. The objects engage the senses, the cover rustles and has tactile qualities.
