ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARNACES
2016 // SPRING SUMMER 2016 // Cube (2)
Cube (2) is a capsule collection for the SS16 season signed by two young fashion designers who are at once artistic collaborators and close friends: Lucian Rusu and Crina Bulprich. The collection was fundamentally inspired by the famous work of the Russian avant-garde painter Kazimir Malevich, Black Circle. The items resulting from this process transmit a powerful message about balance and peace. The warm shapes and the slightly austere chromatics employed by the two artists, such as grey, brown, khaki, dark blue instill a liberating feeling of homogeneity in the viewer.
2015 // Shelter
Shelter, Lucian Rusu’s latest collection, is conceived for the spring-summer season 2015. In the present collection, all fixed structures and massive fabrics are abandoned in order to highlight the role of shape and silhouette. The collection is inspired by the Villa Müller in Prague, a work of art belonging to the well-known Austrian architect Adolf Loos.

In the present collection, all fixed structures and massive fabrics are abandoned in order to highlight the role of shape and silhouette. The collection is inspired by the Villa Müller in Prague, a work of art belonging to the well-known Austrian architect Adolf Loos.
The building’s cubic shape and its austere white façade are some of the work’s characteristics that can be easily traced in the guiding concept of the collection, which closely investigates Loos’ architectural vision as exposed in his essay Ornament and Crime. The architect’s radical aesthetic philosophy gave birth to a most refined simplicity in his style, creating an ingenious synthesis between geometry and spatial musicality. It is precisely this simplicity that Shelter aims at, redefining both inner freedom and corporeal expression. This collection reflects the young designer’s search for a neutral yet deeply interiorized design formula, after experimenting with unpredictable volumes and shapes in his previous collections.
