BEGINNINGS
I don't think I have a spectacular experience of life, but rather a gradual one. I finished High School and the University of Art, worked in many areas adjacent to my training, from set design, restoration, mural painting, graphic design and projects together with architects and designers. Most of the times I took the train which I thought it was the most interesting or handy at the time. For 5 years I have been a freelance illustrator and this has become a constant of my work.
CAREER
It is hard to say which was the first, but perhaps branding Via, a restaurant from Cluj in 2008 was an important one for me. It was the first time I was in charge to create a logo and the entire image package.
BRAND/BUSINESS
"Ania-on-Martina" officially appeared in 2012, but it all started with Tina’s games, who already was a certified designer. She used to put my works or even just some of my exercises in quite interesting contexts. Therefore, eventually I decided to take seriously this rope dancing with our ideas, and last year we made the first series of products and prototypes. We hope that some of our projects shall soon become more than prototypes, we hope for them to become series products.
TODAY
I still work as an illustrator for various publications and publishers, but I also have personal projects, working with Corina Bucea within the Mixer group. And of course I design new things with "Ania-on-Martina".
TOMORROW
I have in mind to continue with the designer Tina Nodes the yearly workshops "Ania-on-Martina", one in Cluj and one in Hamburg, which result in an yearly collection. For us it is always a breath of fresh air to work hard on new ideas. Yet I have in mind to publish, as soon as possible, some editorial projects I have been working on for some time now.
DESIGN MANIFESTO / POST RDW IMPRESSION
The duo "Ania-on-Martina" is thrilled to have been invited to such an event in Romania, especially that we do not want to work exclusively on the Western market. Regarding our design work, which is very different from my constant work, I could never imagine otherwise that working as a team, as in our case, which blends the synthetic design with the manual labour and different cultural background.
