He is a wood worker. He learned the craft at Insidepassage School of Fine Cabinetmaking, his teacher was Robert van Norman and his mentor was James Krenov. He uses wood to make small pieces of furniture and jewelry.
He has a studio in Bucharest where he is slowly exploring the wonderful mystery that is wood. Grigore's idea come from pieces of wood that find their way into his studio and that are too small or unsuited for sound furniture making. Most of them have natural occurrences such as knots, fungus infestation, cracks or just peculiar figure that make them beautiful to our eyes.

The box is made of London plane wood savaged from a tree damaged by a storm in Vancouver. It features a hand carved lid, hand cut dovetail joinery and splattered veneer bottom. The cherry plum and recycled white gold ring - a branch copped from a cherry plum. The shape of the thin wood "flower" is produced by slicing the branch while still wet and applying a source of heat on one side only. The other ring is made of spalted oak and recycled white gold.
