ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES

2019 // Soto cafe-bar

Serving specialty coffee and special long drinks made by the Soto’s passionate bartender, the venue welcomes visitors in a daylight-filled space. The studio found inspiration in combining an austere industrial aesthetic and a minimalist design with a touch of Wes Anderson deep blue that embodies the establishment’s bold and positive attitude towards art. Located in the heart of the Creative Neighborhood frequented by locals and tourists alike, Soto is more like a cafe-bar-gallery, an unusual mix that can bring people towards art. The space dictated 60% of the proposal design. Being a wagon type space, the designers had quite a lot of constraints. The owners wanted to host creative events and curate exhibitions in the venue, so the possibility of changing the space constantly emerged. This led to the deep blue "shutters" that can be closed or opened, creating a different colour game on the wall and an art display system.

2016 // The x ray of a lost world
Temporary exhibition of 2015 at the National History Museum of Romania.
The overall concept of the exhibition is the radiography of Gumelniţa Neolithic culture. Lights off, white on black graphics are elements that define this concept.
The exhibition awakens feelings which transports the visitour into another world that constantly surprises, making them feel curious and anxious.
The mystery was embed by transforming the museum into a machine that allows the travel back in the past through a multi-sensory experience.

2014 // just another 3 legged chair but with pom-poms
The concept of this piece of furniture is the reinterpretation of a traditional Romanian object using unconventional elements. It all started from the kinesthetic interaction, from the ability to feel, with no visual participation, three very different textures. The chair is designed with three highly contrasting materials, the legs are made of solid wood and the seat of hand poured concrete milling, covered with a handmade cushion made of pom-poms of different colors and sizes.
